A wash-up of Volunteers’ Week

7 June: It was great to get a stand at the Fun Day in Tamworth Castle Grounds, held to celebrate volunteers and promote volunteering.

The warm weather ensured a good crowd of potential volunteers turned up as well as local charities and voluntary groups. Total Choice Radio, a not for profit community radio station was on hand to broadcast live from the event, and our very own Mel Austin and Stuart Daly (both beneficiaries of OPTiC) were interviewed and came across like radio veterans!

By the end of the event we had taken the contact details of several potential volunteers and made initial links with 4 local organisations.

Update: We are delighted to report that OPTiC will be working in partnership with the Royal Voluntary Service and Community Café. We are also in the process of engaging with Talking Newspapers Tamworth and Tamworth Samaritans.
